Every Connection Tells A Story

Today, we are able to observe the universe, our planet, and ourselves more closely and accurately than ever before, finding patterns so complex that they were invisible to us until recently. And yet, we see them only through screens and sensors. How can we experience these truths as our ancestors experienced the night sky, the living planet, and the stories shared around a fire?

The journey begins

This story unfolds as a four-part revelation of the interconnected universe, enabling viewers to explore the forces that underlie our very existence: gravitational waves, fungi networks, bee dances, and human story motifs.

Gravitational Waves

Through a series of audio processing techniques, imperceptible cosmic waves become subsonic tactile sensations that can be felt directly through touch.

Place your hand on a steel surface to feel data from celestial events almost 800 million light years away.

Forest Networks

A two-layer fluid system transforms hidden fungi networks into visible movement as two species of fungi are represented as differently-sized droplets based on population.

Witness the invisible flow of resources and information that sustain our forest ecosystems.

Bee Dances

Through machine learning, scientists can now decode the mysterious dancing language of bees. This layered paper light box reveals a single bee’s flight and communication through a single flight.

Study the layers of light to discern where the bee was exploring and where it was communicating.

Folktale Motifs

This light-based installation transforms folklore data into 1,000 suspended LEDs, creating a web of narrative connections between five foundational tales.

About the Artist

Amy Zinger creates immersive installations that transform scientific data into sensory experiences. Her work explores how we might reconnect with the world on a human level through perception and story as opposed to screens.

With a BA in Literature and an MA in Creative Technology, Amy blends narrative technique with systems thinking, translating data through light, fluid dynamics, sound, and physical interaction. She uses technology as unobtrusively as possible, shaping data into experiences that feel grounded, tangible, and emotionally resonant.

Her creative practice is rooted in four core principles: story as foundation, human-centered design, elegant execution, and trust in the audience’s ability to interpret. Rather than prescribing meaning, she builds open systems that invite slow discovery and personal reflection.

By framing data as something to be felt, not just analyzed, Amy’s work bridges the gap between information and intuition – inviting viewers to experience knowledge the way they might experience wind, birdsong, or the shifting of light through trees.
